Marqués de Murrieta began in 1852 and is the oldest estate to stand in Rioja Alta. The winemaker here today is Maria Vargas, who was Tim Atkin MW’s Winemaker of the Year in 2017. This is a full-bodied and generous Gran Reserva Rioja, with flavours of red and dark fruits, spicy oak and vanilla. Decant for at least half an hour before serving at 16-18 degrees with a roast dinner.
