Bodega Argento is the largest grower and organic producer in Argentina. And they’re a producer who’s unafraid to do things differently. Named ‘Young Winemaker of the Year’ by renowned critic Tim Atkin MW, Bodega Argento’s innovative Head Winemaker, Juan Pablo Murgia, is leading the charge off the beaten track. He makes this Fairtrade white wine with Malbec grapes – but pressed very gently to cleanly extract the juice without any of the colour. Unlike red wine made from Malbec, this only undergoes three hours of skin contact, resulting in a crisp, mineral white wine. Their innovation stems from a love of their environment, and a short walk around their vineyards will make that abundantly clear. Their vineyards are home to a huge number of flowers and plants, all planted in between vineyard rows to increase biodiversity and reduce a need for pesticides. Expect notes of green apple and fresh citrus flavours. It has a mouthwatering acidity and mineral hints that make it a perfect choice for seafood and pasta dishes.
