Laurent Delaunay is a fifth generation winemaker of the world-renowned Abbotts & Delaunay winemaking family. Their reputation for excellent wine stretches back over a century in Burgundy – and that expertise is now behind some of the Languedoc’s finest wines. In 2015, Laurent acquired “La Métairie”– a high-altitude vineyard just a stone’s throw from Limoux. With vast experience of creating top Burgundian wines, he brings the same exacting standards to Languedoc winemaking. Grapes are hand-picked, carefully vinified and meticulously aged in oak. Cut from the same cloth as wines from the best Burgundian enclaves, this is a top-shelf Pinot Noir – for a snip of the price. Expect elegant flavours of red berries, liquorice, spice and white pepper. Supple tannins and earthy notes make it a perfect match for game bird dishes.
